Peoples' Education Society Thane is the oldest reputed educational institution in Thane city. This organization implemented various innovative schemes and made them successful. This is an educational institution which is the envy of not only Thane city but also all the educational institutions of Thane district and makes them think and inspire to have such plans and activities in their educational institutions too.
The Sports Culture Center was established on 1st August 1987 by Major Subhash Gawand, the vice president of the institute, recognizing the steps of the time and keeping clear objective that along with the academic development, students should be drawn to the field, their attraction of sports should be increased, their physical, emotional, mental, social qualities should be improved and all their talents should be given scope.
The Sports Culture Center became very famous in Thane city by conducting many activities along with sports. You will find that renowned schools in the city have followed our initiative. Various activities were conducted in this center. Like going to Thane Central Jail and tying rakhis to the inmates there for Raksha Bandhan, taking planned trips to different places for the students to get historical and geographical knowledge, presenting picturesque demonstrations of the students of the center on 26th January, organizing hobby classes and coaching camps on various subjects during the summer holidays, picturesque demonstration and participation of Lazim team on the occasion of Gudhi Padhava New Year Celebration.
Dronacharya Sports Academy was established at Thane East on 5th June 2013 on the initiative of Major Subhash Gawand, president of the organization, to provide quality sports training to the athletes in the institute's schools and in Thane city and to prepare state, national and Olympic athletes. This academy was inaugurated by Honorable MP Sanjivji Naik. Honorable MLA Eknathji Shinde, Honorable MLA Advocate Niranjanji Dawkhare, Honorable Mayor Harishchandra Patil, local corporators and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
